"We have a day dedicated to recognising diversity with various activities organised. The London office has a strong female presence."
First year trainee, London
"As an ethnic minority and a woman, Orrick attracted me for its focus on diversity and the steps it has taken to achieve this. There is a global event held every year focusing on a different theme to encourage diversity ie LGBT in the workplace, multiculturalism etc. Orrick offers flexible working, which is taken up by employees who have childcare responsibilities. Its flexibility in this regard shows the firm is keen on retaining talent and understanding that it's possible for a firm to be productive and successful without the traditional face-time approach to work."
Second year trainee, London
"This is taken very seriously. We partner with an employment charity and run sessions for students in the London office that trainees are encouraged to help out in. There are also firm-wide US-run initiatives that we take part in and Orrick is well regarded for its diversity programmes. It definitely feels like an integral part of the firm's culture, not just a tag on."

"The firm has a good mix of people from different backgrounds, though recruitment is always carried out on the basis of merit."

"The firm has a dive-in day once a year that celebrates diversity and aims to make people more aware of diversity issues. The firm is committed to hiring a diverse selection of people and, as far as I am aware, offers a competitive maternity leave package."

"I think we have good commitment to diversity. We have many female employees and especially in my department the approach to child care is brilliant - if you have young children you are able to leave at a very reasonable time. We have a number of LGBT employees and people from ethnic minority backgrounds. There definitely is a wide range of employees here."
First year trainee, London
"The firm has an annual day which recognizes diversity during which it puts on events to promote positive attitudes towards diversity."
First year trainee, London
"We have a relatively diverse office (for the City). Recruitment policy perhaps inevitably targeted at Oxbridge/Russell Group more than is ideal. Good percentage of female/minority ethnic/LGBT partners."
Second year trainee, London
"The firm is aware of the need of maintaining a diverse environment. There is a committee within the firm which hosts events to spread the word about diversity and the initiatives taken by the firm to achieve this."
First year trainee, London

2014

"There is a strong female presence and the firm promotes diversity."
First year trainee, London
"There are lots of women around the office, and often in very senior positions which I think is promising for the future."
