"The pay is very competitive and there is a profit share scheme that trainees also benefit from."
First year trainee, Bristol
"Trainees are paid well at Osborne Clarke and associate pay is probably in the middle of the market. If the firm does particularly well in a given year, a profit share can be paid to employees. This keeps everyone in the firm motivated to do well. There are individual bonuses available in addition to this."
Second year trainee, London
"The pay is good and very transparent. We received good bonuses this year too and I am aware that not all trainees at other firms get bonuses."
First year trainee, Bristol
"The profit share provided to the whole firm is great. It's really nice to see the whole firm (including support staff) rewarded."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"I think the pay and bonus scheme is fair. On qualification, I think it is perhaps slightly less competitive than other firms of a similar standing."
First year trainee, Reading
"The pay is generally in line with other similar firms in Bristol and London."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"We seem to be keeping pace with our competitors and everyone received a sizeable raise this year. It's good that we, as trainees, also get a slice of the bonus pie, it makes you feel that you are valued."
First year trainee, Bristol

2015

"A recent pay review has been well received, and I feel we are paid well in comparison to other firms/professions in the Bristol market."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"Trainees receive a bonus which was a welcome surprise and I certainly do not think that this is the norm at other firms."
First year trainee, London
"Pay has recently been increased to a very good level within the local market."
First year trainee, Bristol
"The firm is transparent about pay and bonuses."
First year trainee, London
"I think our salary is good within the market."
First year trainee, London

2014

"I am of the opinion that salaries could be pushed up to match other City firm's pay scales."
First year trainee, London
"Trainee pay has been frozen for a long time and OC is no longer the top paying firm in Bristol (which it traditionally has been). Given our size and recent performance, this should be reviewed (and I understand this process is underway). The bonus system seems fair and works well - there is provision for a firm-wide bonus for all employees if certain thresholds are met."
First year trainee, Bristol
"Pay is good for the location, and they do a profit share if the firm's done well."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"Pay is good. There are both firm-wide and individual bonuses available as long as profit levels are hit."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"All fee earners, even those who have recently joined were given a 2% pay rise to celebrate the firm's financial performance."
First year trainee, Bristol

2013

"Pay is at the top end for the area."
Second year trainee, Reading
"The pay is standard trainee pay for a non-US firm. Trainees do not get bonuses."
Second year trainee, London
"No one has had a bonus since 2007. Targets raised by a lot despite not hitting them the previous year therefore lack of incentive to hit them."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"Outside London, we are the highest paid trainees in the country. However, NQ salary isn't a massive jump."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"Very good considering we are out of London."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"Good trainee salary."
First year trainee, Reading
