Fleet Management Programme

On our fleet management programme, you’ll help us control and maintain one of the UK’s largest fleets – around 45,000 vehicles. In just two-years, you’ll get to grips with a fast-changing business, learn how to lead teams and take the first steps towards an exciting career – all at one of the UK’s most trusted and recognised companies. 

About the programme

During the two-year programme, you’ll gain a unique insight into how we maintain and procure vehicles and strategically plan our operations. You’ll complete up to three placements in our commercial, technical and fleet services teams, learning the ropes and enjoying responsibility from day one. Whether it’s lorries or vans, you’ll see that our vehicles are well maintained at our 95 vehicle workshops nationwide. You’ll also learn to how to handle the many different areas that rely on fleet management within the organisation, as well as commercial suppliers.

As one of our trainees, we’ll give you hands-on responsibility from the moment you start, as well as formal management training. It’s all about developing leadership skills, raising your strategic awareness and showing you how to build the foundations for a great career. Our highly experienced managers will set you performance goals, while a buddy, mentor and HR leads will act as your support network. And when you complete the scheme, we’ll work together to decide whether you’re ready to move into a more challenging role within the business.

What we’re looking for

Royal Mail fleet is a critical part of the Royal Mail Group. It’s vital that we have reliable, roadworthy vehicles to help us deliver to over 29 million addresses in the UK. To join the programme you’ll need a 2:2 degree or equivalent in any subject (business related and Logistics degrees highly desirable).We’re also looking for a strong sense of self-belief, and the confidence to get stuck in and handle any challenge that comes your way. You’ll need to be a people person and thrive as part of a team. On the other hand, you’ll also need a genuine desire to lead. The programme will help you learn how to inspire individuals and how to utilise your strong leadership skills. If you’ve got the drive, resilience and enthusiasm for all things ‘fleet’, there’s no limit to the impact you could have on your team and the future of Royal Mail Group.
