Placement summary

Primarily based at our offices in central Scotland, this project will see you working with existing customers to improve the individual performance of an innovative new medical treatment, currently offered in more than 160 clinics across the country. The Swift system ( is a pioneering new microwave treatment in the fields of Podiatry and Dermatology and has been used in more than 30,000 procedures across the UK, Canada, and Australia since October 2016. This is a 12 month placement initially.

Project Description

  • Emblation is undertaking a year-long project to evaluate the feasibility of developing a new business model, with the objective of reaching new clinical market categories, increasing revenue and profitability, and improving efficiencies.
  • Our primary product as of 2019 is Swift, a microwave-powered treatment system currently used in Podiatry clinics to treat patients presenting with verruca (plantar warts). The product was launched in late 2016, and in the two years since launch we have placed 180 systems in the UK, in addition to launching in Canada and Australia (during 2018) and the US (January 2019). We generate revenue through the sale of the capital equipment, and on-going consumable tips – with one consumable required per patient appointment. In two years, we have carried out more than 30,000 treatments in the UK, and 40,000 globally.
  • The placement will suit a graduate with some commercial experience, a confident, ambitious individual, with excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly build relationships and anticipate customers needs.

Placement Objectives

  • Work with our existing accounts to build on the relationship with these clinics
  • Identify opportunities for new accessory products and services
  • Create a process that allows us to build a pipeline of ideas directly from consumer feedback through to research, development, and launch

Role Description

We’re looking for an analytical, entrepreneurial business and marketing graduate who can work both proactively and reactively to the demands of existing customers who have purchased our treatment systems and ensure consumption of disposable items and customer satisfaction remains high. Regular feedback and reporting on customer behaviour are formal requirements, alongside identification and advice on new potential revenue streams for our product and services.


  • Preferred degree in Business, Marketing, or Management.
