For 40 years Westons has specialised in providing expertise for ensuring projects in the offshore oil and gas industry achieve legislative compliance. To build our market presence and raise awareness of our offerings in existing and new markets, we are looking to hire a talented and committed graduate with digital marketing expertise to work with us for an initial 12-month placement, with a view to a permanent role.

Project Description

We work with many of the biggest companies operating in the North Sea and beyond on a range of unique and challenging projects – including some of the largest projects in the North Sea.

Operating from our base in Aberdeen, the UK has been our primary market but now we are developing markets in Denmark, Eire, Norway, Netherlands and Mexico as well as entering non-energy related industries.

This project will assist us with our current growth plans and you will support the Managing Director and other management members in the building and delivery of a new B2B marketing strategy and mechanisms.


Placement Objectives

At the end of 12 month the project, you will be expected to have delivered the following outcomes:  

  • Mechanisms for improved communications with our market
  • Database of prospective customers
  • Updated web site
  • Relevant and focussed promotional material
  • Improved understanding of competitors’ offerings
  • A permanent position within the company 


Role Description

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop a company marketing strategy
  • Research and select digital and other marketing methods suited to Westons business
  • Develop procedures and roles/responsibilities to execute the above
  • Research competitors and develop a 'competitor monitoring mechanism'
  • Prepare and submit Press Releases
  • Arrange ad hoc marketing initiatives – conferences etc



Ideally you will have graduated with a degree in marketing or a business related discipline.


Skills / Experience

Essential Skills

  • Excellent command of English and communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of social media and how to harness it
  • Project management experience
  • Flexible approach to work with an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Self starter with initiative
  • Team player with a sense of humour


Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of the energy industries or law
  • Foreign language skills; notably Norwegian, Dutch, Danish or Spanish

The project placement has a starting salary of £20k p.a. and the usual paid and statutory holidays.
