Our Programme in Geosciences:

  • Geoscience is at the core of Shell’s business. Geoscience careers are suited to creative, technical graduates keen to embrace technology and to apply that technology in the constant search for new energy resources. Choose a Geoscience career with Shell and not only will you embark on a challenging and extremely fulfilling journey, you will also play an instrumental role in building a secure global energy future.
  • As a Geoscientist within Shell you will be responsible for finding new and commercially viable reserves of oil and gas, as well as safely developing and maximising the output of both new and existing fields. Depending on your background and skills, you might consider Exploration Geoscience, Geophysics, Production Geoscience or Specialist Geoscience.
  • The Shell Graduate Programme for Geoscience is a three-year, blended learning programme specifically designed to complement “on-the-job” development with structured training and field work. Together, these will provide a broad foundation to your future Geoscience career.  The Programme not only introduces you to the full scope of Shell’s operations, it also helps actively build your networks across the organisation.

Your Background:

  • This programme suits graduates with a Masters in Geosciences.

The application process for our graduate programmes is rigorous, but is designed to enable the most talented graduates to stand out.  After submitting an online application, you will be invited to complete our online assessments and our on demand interview. Successful candidates will be invited to final stage of the selection process in a virtual assessment. This stage includes a live virtual case study session with two Shell employees who will host the discussion. You will be assigned a topic relating to an aspect of your case, and then asked to prepare a presentation.

Through this process we will be assessing candidates’:

  • Capacity – the intellectual ability to analyse and apply unfamiliar information to complex situations;
  • Achievement – the ability to identify and manage resources in order to deliver results;
  • Relationship-building – the ability to work within, and lead, diverse teams
