2016

"Very satisfied with my pay and looking forward to the new qualifier pay rise."
Second year trainee, London
"Good pay in general but less than some other City firms. Trainees do not get bonuses."
First year trainee, London
"The general market for salaries seems to be moving up again. The trainee salary is probably about right; however qualification salary could be raised given the large increases other firms are starting to make."
First year trainee, London
"I am pleased with trainee pay. I believe the pay and bonus structure at associate level should match the movements made by the magic circle."
First year trainee, London
"In line with the City and I think the hours are better than my friends at magic circle firms."
First year trainee, London
"The firm recently increased its pay for trainees. I believe that this is competitive and brings the firm in line with other leading City firms."
Second year trainee, London
"New qualifier pay has recently been raised to fairly market standard and at the moment I think it's an accurate reflection of the work/life balance that you get here compared to some other firms. I can't comment on the bonus structure as trainees don't receive bonuses."
Second year trainee, Hong Kong
"The pay is very generous, especially when one considers a trainee solicitor's inexperience, the security of having two years' definite employment and all of the additional training resources that come with the training contract."

2015

"As of June 2015, the firm offers market standard pay at trainee and NQ level, though I understand it falls behind for higher PQEs."
First year trainee, London
"At present, (June 2015), I would say the pay is slightly below the market but I have still find it to be generally okay."
Second year trainee, London
"As of summer 2015 the pay at the firm is slightly below average. I appreciate that this is something they have been reviewing over the last year with NQ pay increasing by around 10%. The only reason I would consider a role at another firm upon qualification would be due to the higher salaries that are paid elsewhere."

2014

"Pay is marginally less than Magic Circle but not be much. This gap widens when more qualified."
First year trainee, London
"At the end of the day, we are getting paid very well for what we do and have had our training and grant paid for (for up to three years). Whilst the firm doesn't have a bonus policy for trainees, the reward of a job on qualification should be enough of an incentive to work the odd late night or put in the extra effort."
Second year trainee, London
"The bonus structure complicated and bonuses are not easy to get. However, the pay is good."
Second year trainee, London
"At a trainee level pay is competitive and fair in my opinion."
First year trainee, London
"I think it's fair for the level of work that we do. They are introducing a new system for bonuses that removes the sole emphasis on the billable hours so factors such as business development are taken into account, which I think is a positive step."
First year trainee, London
"The pay is generally very good but does not match other City law firms. As the culture is shifting towards that of more hard hitting firms I would expect that the pay should reflect that."
