Interview: Tips & Advice
"There's a telephone interview followed by two interview days in the office. The first included some tests and I met some of the team members. The second included meeting higher-ups within the organisation. I'd advise that, as well as brushing up on maths abilities and puzzle solving, it would be a good idea to have examples of problem solving and investigation."Midlevel, Exeter
"There was a strict assessment process that, as I passed it, gave me confidence in my ability to complete the job. Following that, the interview process was focused more on my experience and personality so my only advice would be for the candidates to be themselves."Midlevel, Exeter
"The application process was reasonably similar to other jobs I had applied for. There were some online tests followed by two interview days in the office. My advice for the interview days is to read up about the company online, and make sure you really want to work here, then make sure this comes across. If you get any instructions or information then read them carefully and make sure you follow them!"Content Scientist, Exeter
"I completed an application, an online maths test and had two visits to the office in Exeter. Sparx were by far the most efficient company regarding post-interview responses and looking after you throughout the process. Working for Sparx requires that you think outside the box, be judgemental and precise in the work that you complete, but at the same time you need to be able to take criticism well and communicate well. If you can display those qualities in the interview then you should do well!"Sparx Content Scientist, Exeter
"The long application process is long and thorough. My advice would be to show that you're a genuine team player and willing to do whatever it takes to get stuff done. A passion for education is important too. Prepare by researching Sparx and other educational technologies. In my interview I was asked "What's the hot topic in education at the moment?""Content Scientist, Exeter
"I filled in an online application, did some online tests and had a video interview. I then came for two interviews: once with five others and once with one other applicant. There isn't really a specific way to prepare, but know your CV and be prepared to think critically."Content Scientist, Exeter
