Electronic / Electrical Engineering Sandwich Placement

Are you studying a Electronic / Electrical Engineering related degree and looking for a Placement year for 2018/19? This West Midlands based opportunity could be ideal…

Handicare is a global company with sales in more than 20 countries; they are committed to providing safe and reliable equipment for people with reduced mobility, and those who care for them, to help make their everyday life easier; they are a market leader in this field.

Their UK offices are located in a town to the west of Dudley, in the west Midlands (not too far from Birmingham and Wolverhampton).

Handicare has an excellent track record of hosting and developing students during their placement year- in fact, they will aim to arrange an overlap with the current placement student so you can arrange a handover of work, and find out more about their experiences.

Their continued global growth is testament to the vision of a hard working team, with the desire to always provide the best products and services at a reasonable price. Investment and innovation is something the business is extremely passionate about. Looking across the organisation, you can see this in action; for example, the Research and Development (R&D) team has a dedicated facility to improve products.

By participating in a placement in the R&D department, you will be given the chance to gain an appreciation of both the context and application of your academic studies, making you better prepared to start your career following graduation, and giving you a competitive advantage when it comes time to applying for graduate jobs.

Working as part of an experienced, multi-disciplined R&D team, you will be working within the electronics department alongside a highly experienced Electronics Engineer. Training and support will be provided, and some of the things you will be involved with include:

  • Prototyping electronic circuits
  • valuating, setting up and documenting tests
  • Designing, documenting and prototyping test equipment

You should be an undergraduate on an Electronic / Electrical Engineering course, and you will ideally be able to demonstrate some understanding of hardware and software, including knowledge of C or Assembly Language, and motors.

Start date will be around early to mid-July to allow the handover with the outgoing placement student.

Sound good? If so please apply asap-the closing dates on our advertising are for guidance only and we always encourage early applications where possible.

Step are managing the recruitment process for this role, and any direct applications to Handicare will be forwarded back to us.
