"S&B is a very hard-working firm but also very sociable. There are constantly client events after work as well as some firm exclusive events that have been fun. I've had a good opportunity to get to know everyone socially. Partners are approachable, even to trainees, and everyone is willing to help where they can."

"There is a great working environment at S&B. We share a room with our supervisor, meaning that we are able to ask all kinds of questions as and when we think of them. We often have Friday lunches and drinks after work and the firm has a drinks night once a month."

"The firm's culture is very good, particularly the open-door policy and cross-departmental working/socialising. Junior members of the team share an office with a more senior person, which helps to break down hierarchy and allows you to learn day to day from partners and senior associates. Support staff are also well integrated and an essential part of all the teams. There are a variety of opportunities to socialise, whether this is in one of the sports teams (eg netball or football), the choir, the corporate social responsibility committee or book club. These activities help build relationships with people across the firm, whatever their role."

"We have a very sociable atmosphere and get to do some socialising outside of work eg drinks on Friday. There are also some sports teams and other activities to get involved in."

"I think having everyone in one office really helps to create a friendly and inclusive environment. Everyone works hard but there are also great opportunities for socialising, including drinks every month and activities such as netball and choir."

"The firm has a great culture and many people at the firm socialise regularly. The office has an open door policy and as a trainee, I have always found that everyone has been willing to help with work or otherwise. There are also clubs and sports team at the firm for trainees to get involved in."

"The firm operates an open-door policy, right up to the managing partner. The firm's transparency over the decisions the management take and why is also a great benefit - you are always kept in on the loop on the biggest decisions. After hours there is a genuine camaraderie amongst those left in the office - there's always someone willing to do a takeaway run who will drop it off at your desk for you! The social life is amazing - we have a full roster of football, netball and tennis teams, plus an office choir and lunchtime Pilates sessions. There are also regular end of the month drinks for everyone at the firm."

"During office hours, Lawyers in the firm are focused on their tasks in hand whilst ensuring that assist any queries which you may have - something which is reinforced by our 'Open Door Policy'. Social events have been high on the agenda as we have been on 'Team Away Days' and multiple evenings have consisted of drinks and food in order to make us feel like we are part of the team."

"The firm's culture is one of the best things about it. I am yet to meet a lawyer working within the firm who isn't approachable. Everyone is really understanding of what it means to be a trainee and very supportive. There is a real emphasis on having a life outside of the firm too. Everyone is very sociable, taking the time to get to know new and longstanding members of the firm outside of working hours. Although there is a natural hierarchy, all lawyers are approachable regardless of status within the firm and workload."

"The firm is incredibly friendly, and everyone is approachable and helpful regardless of their status within the firm. There are lots of sporting and charitable activities to get involved with, and regular departmental and cross-firm social events. Work is taken seriously, but there is a good work/life balance. As a trainee there is a strong support system in place; each trainee has a buddy (normally an NQ) as well as a supervisor, and as there is only a small group of trainees each year we all know each other well and socialise outside of work."

"There is less of a hierarchy than in some firms I have worked in, everyone makes an effort to introduce themselves and everyone is genuinely approachable. There is a great appreciation for work life balance - you are expected to work hard when need be but there is no "be here to be here" culture."

"The firm operates an 'open-door' policy and as a trainee you don't feel like there is anyone who you cannot approach. Outside of work we regularly go for drinks and play sport together."

"In my experience, partners are generally approachable. During my time here I have received excellent supervision and training."

"People at the firm often go for drinks in the evening, celebrating deals or birthdays, etc. People are also happy to go for lunch together, there is a good atmosphere at the firm and plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues."

"There is a great atmosphere in the firm. There are frequent socials for each department, an annual firm-wide Christmas party, (where transport is provided and food and drinks are all paid for), and monthly drinks for anyone who wants to attend. Cross department socialising is encouraged and easily achieved given the one office approach. Associates often go for informal lunches and drinks and involve trainees in these. Whilst hierarchy in law firms is unavoidable given their structure, the partners are very approachable and make an effort to attend social events."
