Graduate Commercial Analyst, National Grid Ventures
- You must have, or be predicted to gain, a 2:2 degree classification or above in the one of the following subjects: Engineering, Finance, Economics or a Business related degree.
- To apply for this role, you must hold a valid full UK car driving licence.
- This programme consists of rotational placements and therefore you must be willing to relocate as and when the programme requires.
About the Role
Conducting close examinations, finding patterns and discrepancies is your thing, right? Improving the business’ functioning and driving productivity and efficiency is something you aspire to be involved in, the purpose of this role is just that.
You will provide commercial support to the Interconnectors business to ensure efficient commercial operations as more interconnectors which are not yet operational are currently in their development/construction phase, adding to National Grid’s growing portfolio of interconnectors.
This involvement in commercial projects allows successful operation of these interconnectors, providing National Grid a healthy revenue stream, along with the GB System Operator a diversity of supply, facilitates competition across Europe and helps address the intermittency issues posed by renewables.
Key Tasks and Areas of Work
Commercial Operations is a business-critical team covering all disciplines, therefore, specific role objectives can be tailored to focus on key areas of personal and professional development whilst still enabling you to deliver as part of the team.
Over the course of the graduate scheme it is expected that you will gain a wide-ranging experience of the ever-evolving European energy market as well as the growing National Grid Ventures directorate, where the drive for commercial profitability, operational efficiency and risk management are key. This role will provide a unique opportunity to develop a wider perspective of the energy industry whilst gaining exposure to the operational, commercial, regulation and financial areas of the business. There will be potential for you to work in a European environment developing professional relationships with people from different cultures both internally within Interconnectors and externally with our suppliers and customers.

You will be given a heightened level of responsibility for project management whilst gaining exposure to the commercial, legal and financial areas of the operational interconnectors’ businesses, in line with their development needs.
