Opportunity

Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd are seeking a Finance Sales/Purchase Ledger Summer Intern, who is available from June 2019. The position will provide a good background for students aiming for accounting qualifications. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Purchase Ledger

  • Being responsible for the daily clearance of the dedicated Purchase Ledger email inbox;
  • Look to improve all aspects of the current Purchase Ledger processes;
  • Enter ‘order’ related invoices on to Oracle and match to receipt;
  • To be responsible for the daily invoice scanning on to Hyland;
  • Cover for other Purchase Ledger staff where required;
  • Maintain and reconcile supplier accounts and prepare payments for authorization as required;
  • Perform any ad hoc tasks required by the Chief Accountant;
  • Contribute to team spirit to achieve the team’s goals.

Sales Ledger

  • To accurately maintain the Sales Ledger (Oracle);
  • Assist with the control and issue of all invoices, credit notes and statements to customers;
  • Assist with the continuous review of all credit limits through ongoing trading experience and all available external data;
  • To be responsible for Jacobsen Direct customers in the UK;
  • Look to improve all aspects of the current Sales Ledger processes;
  • Maximisation of cash flow of the Company;
  • Examine use of Qlik View by the Sales Ledger;
  • Perform any ad hoc tasks and projects required by the Chief Accountant or Credit Manager;
  • Contribute to team spirit to achieve the team’s goals.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills/Education

  • A minimum of five GCSE’s grade A – C (including English and Maths) or equivalent;
  • You should be enrolled in a relevant Financial degree;
  • Prior internships/work experience in Finance roles is advantageous, but not essential;
  • You should be an energetic team player;
  • Numerically accurate, and methodical and thorough;
  • Computer literate;
  • Able to work under pressure with a flexible attitude;
  • Articulate but firm telephone manner.
