2016

"Generally flexible on working location (lots of working from home), but we are expected to work long hours. Weekends are totally protected though, it is very rare to work on a weekend."
Consulting, Graduate, London
"Moderately happy with hours. It depends on who you work with and how projects are managed. On the other hand, there is no face-time culture which is very positive."
Consulting, Graduate, London
"Hours are long, but not atypical for a consultancy."
Entry level, London
"The hours are variable."
Consulting, Graduate, London
"Long hours Monday to Thursday, but Friday evenings and weekends are protected from work."

"Working hours vary with urgency for work, responsibility and trust. When contact is light and trust is established, project leaders are very happy for you to work from home in the evenings."
Graduate, London
"While there is a lot to be done in any given day, leading to long working hours, there is no 'face-time' culture in the organisation, so work can be done when you are most effective."
Graduate, London
"At the organisation you are expected to work long hours, especially during projects and coming up to important deadlines. However, there is no 'face-time' culture, and I have left the office at 3:00pm or earlier on occasions when I have finished work. This is far more flexible than comparative high-end City careers. BCG has just implemented a leave of absence policy which allows up to four weeks of unpaid leave per year in addition to usual paid holiday."

"I work up to 60 hours a week. I am able to partially flex my hours (e.g. choose to start at 9:30am) and I can work from home in the evenings if I want to."
Graduate, London
"You expect long hours in consulting but there's definitely no 'face-time' culture - people really respect the project leaders who keep their teams working reasonable hours. There's a great scheme called PTO which lets you 'protect' one night a week to finish early."

"Working hours are flexible, but depend on the case, the project leader and your upcoming deadlines."

"The company is very flexible and if you have some commitments during the working day everyone will do their best to accommodate those. However, sometimes hours can get quite long and are in general quite unpredictable."
London
"The hours can be long (around 60 hours a week) but there is a lot of flexibility."
London
"Work hours are flexible in the sense that you work for as long as it takes you to get the work done. On average you work 10-12 hours a day, but there is a lot of flexibility in working from home."
London
"BCG is very flexible but hours vary enormously depending on the project/client. As a result, work/life balance can be unpredictable"
London
"Very flexible about work hours - in as much as so long as you get the work done, you can be as flexible as you want to be. That said, this will require a lot of total hours. But working from home, or going to see a friend and then picking up after dinner is often totally fine, even when busy."
London
"Before you start, you know consulting is long hours, and actually I've been pleasantly surprised by how few they've been relative to what I expected, and how flexible they are as long as I get the work done."

2013

"The company is very flexible if you make prior commitments known in advance. I've never had to drop out of something that I had already told people about before. Having said that, on a day-to-day basis, it can be difficult to predict what time you will be heading home. However, once any meetings you need to have are done, you're pretty free to finish your work from wherever you like."
London
"Demanding but very flexible."
London
"Unpredictable hours - especially at a junior level but there's no 'face-time'. Most teams have at least one night off per week and most people leave early (i.e. by 6:00pm) on Fridays."
London
"You manage your own work so the hours can be as flexible as you can cope with personally."
London
"I average about 11 hours/day which I find is very manageable. I usually get one evening off mid-week where I can be out of the office by 7:00pm."
