Integration

2016

"I've been fully integrated into a case team and rarely felt like the 'intern'. I was asked to perform the same tasks as full-time employees (albeit with expectations that it might take a bit longer)."
Intern, London
"My supervisor met with me every day (often multiple times) for the first half of the internship. In the second half, I was working in the same office as the leader of my work stream (the whole project actually) and we often had lunch together. They were very accessible and friendly. I received two sets of formal feedback and had numerous occasions to discuss informal feedback (especially after milestone events like my first client presentation etc). Feedback from others in the team (including the partner) was also channelled my way. Additionally, I had a buddy who regularly rang me and we occasionally met for breakfast to discuss progress and general consulting topics."

"Accessibility of supervisors is varied, some are very open and give frequent (daily) feedback. In general, there is a culture of in depth feedback and recognition of good performance. This is expressed chiefly in the form of informal feedback and end of case assessments."
Intern, London
"I found managers to be super accessible. BCG is incredibly flat as a company. You can drop anyone you know an email and drop by their office of they have time even if it's just for a chat."
Intern, London
"Supervisors are very accessible and you get to meet with them on a regular basis."
Intern, London
"The people on my team were really friendly and contributed considerably to my development."
Intern, London
"BCG absolutely excels at integrating interns with full time employees. There were plenty of opportunities to receive performance feedback which really encouraged improvement."
Intern, London
"The teams are small, so support is always on hand. There were two formal performance reviews, but informal feedback was much more regular."

"You are allocated a buddy who is a recent new joiner. You get regular feedback from your team and there is a formal review process with your manager. All are very willing to help and offer great advice about managing work, and how to go about things if you are stuck."
Intern, London
"We received informal feedback and formal feedback twice for the duration of the internship."
Intern, London
"The assessment process is daunting but open. Finding time for feedback/mentoring with your project leader can be difficult, depending on their schedule, but if you put something in their calendar, then they will get round to it eventually. They are aware it is an important part of their role."
Intern, London
"People at any level are willing to find time to talk to interns and help where possible - they make very good mentors."
Intern, London
