What is it like working for TJX Europe?
The culture is the essence of everything we do and what I think makes working at TJX a truly unique experience. Being in an environment where I am encouraged to take risks and constantly try out new ideas and strategies is so exciting and has taught me so much along the way! Everyone is very supportive and I have loved working with such a variety of people across the business who I can continuously learn from and share ideas with.
Tell me about your career progression/on-going development with TJX Europe.
I started my career at TJX on the Merchandising & Buying graduate scheme in February 2017. Since then I have worked on various teams including Handbags, Beauty and have recently moved to Jewelry as an Assistant Merchandiser. It has been great to move around the business, meeting lots of new people and learning about different product. I also recently started looking at the online side to our business which was an exciting new challenge. No one is ever too busy to help and the training (both informal and formal) has made me feel supported and encouraged me to continuously drive my own development.
How much responsibility are you given?
You are given responsibility from the get go at TJX. This can vary from deciding where product goes to how much product you would like to see in a store. Being trusted to drive my business and have a voice that is so valued by everyone around you is very motivating. The opportunity to have such an impact from every level is unique and something you don?t get everywhere. As we are such a fast paced business you are able to see results so quickly. For example I was recently working on an online strategy and then being able to see it come to life on the website every day was very rewarding.
What is a typical working day like?
Every day is different and I am always amazed at how much you can achieve in just a day at TJX! This can vary from analysing sales and having conversations about your business, getting out to stores to see your product, attending a vendor appointment with one of your buying team or even going on a team day. There is always something new to get involved in and the flexible work environment combined with the passion that everybody has makes it a really inspiring and fun place to work.
