Interview: Tips & Advice

2016

"Read a bit about the company and have a general knowledge of the structure of the NHS. Be honest in the interview if you don't know something; honesty and asking for help quickly is a big part of the company's culture. Don't be afraid to apply for the software developer job, even if you have little or no programming experience."

"Our application process involves a short phone conversation with someone on the team you are applying for, followed by two interviews with more senior members of that team/directors of the company."

"Interviews generally have some mind-stretching puzzles to calculate. The important thing isn't necessarily getting the right answer, but how you work it out."

"Submit a CV and cover letter for review. If successful, you will be invited to the interview stage. My tips would be: to be honest, be yourself, and to have a good knowledge of what's on your CV."

"Just be honest and be prepared to admit if you don't know something. We are looking for the best and brightest, not the people who can answer interview questions without fault. Every day is a challenge that requires me to learn new things, accept help from others and admit when I don't know something. The interview is no different."
Graduate, Leeds
"After sending my application, I had a telephone interview, a coding challenge, a maths test and two interviews on the same day. Before the interview, make sure you are familiar with what the company does."
Graduate, Leeds
"I think the best preparation for this is to do as much research as possible. Treat the interview like an exam."
