Offices & Dress

6.4 / 10

(based on 11 ratings in 2019)

2019

"Our offices are pretty dated and need an upgrade. The dress code is business casual, with the obvious caveat that you dress appropriately for client meetings. Saying that, depending on who the client is this can mean jeans and a t-shirt."
First year trainee, London
"The office is in the middle of a renovation so everything is a little all over the place. Some departments are in brand new office spaces, whereas others are in far less glamourous digs. The dress code is relaxed, although each department has its own dressing culture. The general rule is the more transactional the department, the more formal its dress."
First year trainee, London
"They've got a bit old and shabby. The corporate floor has been refurbished and is really nice but other departments could be improved a lot."
Second year trainee, London
"The location is fantastic and it's one of the best located offices in the City being right next to Blackfriars underground station and City Thameslink. The brand new fourth floor office space also looks and feels like a tech start-up's new office floor."
First year trainee, London
"The space is great, although the offices themselves are a little drab. The revamped fourth floor is open plan, which people either love or hate. The offices are in a prime position in the City and next to City Thameslink and Blackfriars, which means many people have an easy commute. The dress code is business casual now, so many people wear jeans throughout the week. It is much more laid back than other places when you don't have client meetings to attend. That said, some of the transactional teams still dress smartly."

"The fourth floor is occupied by the various corporate practices and is both open plan and resembles the offices of any Shoreditch tech start-up. The dress code is business casual and makes getting ready for work in the morning very easy."

"We're in a great location but the office is looking a little tired."
Second year trainee, London
"The location is good but the offices could be better. Everyone is looking forward to the lease expiring so we can upgrade."
First year trainee, London
"It's a good space. The building is a little dated but the facilities are fine. Departments vary from having an office format to being open-plan. We have a good cafeteria, nice showers and bathrooms, and an on-site visiting GP."
First year trainee, London
"The office space really needs an uplift and better facilities. Our dress code is relatively informal compared to other City firms."
Second year trainee, London

2017

"The location is brilliant but the offices could do with a makeover. The dress code is very relaxed and comfortable."
Second year trainee, London
"Our dress code is relaxed, casual Fridays and summer dress down are really nice."
First year trainee, London
"The offices could be a bit better as they're dated and need renewing."
First year trainee, London
"There is a lack of space and the office could very much use a revamp. The dress code differs from department to department. Fridays are casual and there is also the casual summer dress code."
First year trainee, London
"The location is great but the facilities and office space are so-so and a bit dated. The dress code is quite relaxed but obviously needs to be client-appropriate."
Second year trainee, London

2015

"While the office space is dated, the facilities are generally of a good standard, and the client floors are very lovely. The dress code does not tend to be overly formal which is a plus."
Second year trainee, London
"It's in a great part of London on Fleet Street. Sometimes, there's a lack of light on lower floors but the location makes up for it. The dress code is quite relaxed unless you are meeting a client or in court and we have casual Fridays and summer dress."
First year trainee, London
"Nice offices; good view of St Paul's cathedral from many of the higher offices; the whole building is Baker & McKenzie which creates a community feel, as does the canteen on the 1st floor. Dress code is relatively relaxed for a law firm, though obviously smart dress is required for client meetings etc. We have casual Fridays and summer dress code."
Second year trainee, London
"I think that the offices are dated, but the facilities are moderate the location is amazing. The second and third floors, where most of the contentious departments are, dress more casually, and the Corporate Department dress more formally. There is dress down Friday and summer work dress."
Second year trainee, London
"The firm has big offices with good facilities. The dress code is fairly relaxed, and there dress down Fridays including denim and casual business attire for summer. Ties are not worn unless we are seeing clients."
First year trainee, London

"Modern office space, well air conditioned. Great central location by St. Paul's."
First year trainee, London
"The dress code is good, we have a summer dress down policy and casual Fridays."
First year trainee, London
"The dress code is fairly relaxed for a law firm, especially for women. The office itself is a bit scruffy although we do have a canteen. It's not the best but it's not terrible either."
Second year trainee, London
"Dress code is relatively relaxed, although jeans on Fridays are a relatively new addition. Office space is generally good but generic, and it feels like there will be a shortage of space in the near future. F3 restaurant is broadly good, particularly at free evening meals."
Second year trainee, London
"Location is great, office space is adequate, and facilities are good - though the lack of an on-site gym is a shame. The canteen is fantastic, and the dress code is business formal but flexible, with real dress down Fridays on which jeans are totally acceptable."
First year trainee, London
"Location is good at Blackfriars, offices are a bit dated. Dress code is relaxed - suits without ties, then dress down Fridays."
Second year trainee, London
