Elisa Lindemann

Trainee Solicitor

I first came across Bristows whilst undertaking an internship at one of their clients. They took me along to a seminar on recent updates on data protection law at the firm and I was immediately gripped by the cutting-edge work the firm was involved with in this area. Everyone struck me as incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable in their field at the same time.

For this reason, I jumped at the opportunity to come on board as a paralegal on a project the Competition Team was working on. I was able to see first-hand how the team was always striving to come up with new and forward-thinking solutions for their client’s issues, which made every day exciting and diverse. I was also impressed by how the trainees were treated, as they were given real responsibility and the partners were always happy to answer questions and take time out of their days to explain complicated issues to them.

Now that I am a trainee myself, I can only confirm these observations. Bristows manages to strike this difficult balance between innovative and exciting work and a truly supportive and approachable team that is rare in city law firms. The small trainee intake and the extra effort Bristows makes to organise events for us meant that we all became genuine friends before joining the firm and even went on holiday together during the LPC. Especially in the beginning, having that support around you every day has made starting our careers in law an easier transition.

Due to Bristows’ specialism in the life sciences and technology sector, the clients the firm works with generate progressive and innovative work. The sectors are incredibly fast paced and are seeking to push the boundaries. This means that no day is ever the same and the solicitors have to think on their feet in order to meet the client’s demands. This also results in some great client secondment opportunities, which are a real bonus of training at Bristows.
