I applied to Bristows through the Winter Workshop, which was a great way to get an insight into what the firm was really like. Although shorter than a traditional vacation scheme, it gave me a real idea of what it is like to work at the firm. Following, the workshop I then had two sets of interviews, following which I was offered a training contract with Bristows.
As a trainee at Bristows I have had the opportunity to do some really interesting work, including attending a trial in relation to the infringement of a telecoms patent. I have had the chance to work for a variety of different clients, from both a litigation and transactional perspective which has been a great learning experience. The support given by those I work with is superb and I always feel encouraged to take on more responsibility, in order to learn as much as I can during each seat.
There is always training available and frequent know-how sessions take place which all trainees are welcome to attend. I had feared that the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic might make learning during my training contract more difficult, but there has been ample support from Bristows. Working from home has been dealt with efficiently and I continue to have the same quality of work as I did in the office.
The thing I enjoy most about working at Bristows is working with genuinely friendly and supportive people. Working alongside experienced lawyers of the top calibre has been a wonderful learning experience and it is great to work with interesting people, on a variety of matters, for clients at the cutting edge of what they do.
