I applied for a training contract at Bristows after attending the firm’s winter workshop (analogous to a short vacation scheme) which was a great insight into both the work the firm does and its culture. Since being offered a training contract and starting at Bristows, I have had no regrets about the firm I chose to train at.
So far I have worked in the Commercial IP/IT department and the Brands, Designs and Copyright department as well as going on secondment to a large technology company for three months. Although the work I am responsible for varies from department to department, I have found the types of task I have been involved in both intellectually engaging and rewarding. For instance, I have assisted in drafting data policies for a large media company, coordinated multiple global projects to obtain advice on a point of law from a large number of jurisdictions and helped prepare for a court hearing all about cheese!
What I have loved most about the role and training at Bristows is how varied and engaging the work is, no day is ever the same as the last. I’ve also been given plenty of responsibility during my first year which has been really rewarding. As well as interesting work, the firm lives up to its reputation as being a firm with a positive, friendly attitude and this is down to how approachable and supportive the people that work there are.
I have really enjoyed my time at Bristows so far and am looking forward to the second year of my training contract!
