Day in the life of Sophie Heritage….
In the morning I wake up early and make my way into work. I cycle into the office to avoid the Oxford traffic and it takes me around 30 minutes. I aim to get into the office for around 8:30 and often need a strong coffee to wake me up. My morning mainly consists of checking my emails and monitoring applications to check whether any actions are required. I then plan out my timetable for the next couple of days. As I work across two teams I need to be quite organised with my time to ensure I can reach deadlines.
As I work with planning and development my work can vary hugely. I may be on site with developers, marketing and promoting development sites or submitting planning applications as well as meeting with clients. I feel I am more focused in the mornings and prefer to work on more challenging projects. This often involves writing planning statements and planning appraisals.
Most afternoons I will catch up on emails and phones calls and complete smaller jobs to ensure my work load is on schedule.
I will then organise my diary for the following day. If it is the end of the week I will also fill out my APC diary for the week which is a summary/record of the work I have carried out that week.
In the evenings I often go for a run after work to clear my head. I also enjoy cooking so will then head home and cook up something tasty.
