I joined the Chatteris Graduate Scheme straight after university, I was approached by a recruiter at the student language bureau and I initially thought that the programme would be a great way to travel Asia while getting paid. I later learned that the programme not only allows me to travel but equipped me with transferable skills and a supportive community of friends and colleagues. In my first year I worked as an English tutor in a primary school, now in my second year I work as the Primary programme manager. In my role I am responsible for providing incoming Chatteris tutors with training and support, both professionally and personally. I also work on a variety of community outreach activities including a summer camp for underprivileged students and a programme wide pantomime performance. The key benefit of my job is being involved in the community programmes and connecting with local people in Hong Kong. In my opinion Chatteris provides graduates with support and guidance throughout their graduate programme, allowing graduates to develop transferable skills to suit their future career paths.
