"Hours are good, depending on your role. If you are office based (working on projects etc) then you can often leave once your hours are up. If you're operations-focused then hours can far exceed your contract as operations are often running 24/7 and you may feel that you need to be there to support it for longer than your set hours. The company is generally flexible with hours depending on your position within the organisation."

"I'm required to work a standard 9.00 am to 5.00 pm day with some flexibility for evening event work. Given that my role is particularly seasonal with peaks and troughs, my manager and I have had conversations around this. We agreed that, so long as my work is completed to a high standard and I am available when I'm needed, I largely work to a flexible schedule. This allows me to work from home or even just head home early if there's nothing left for me to do that day."

"I work 9.00 am to 5.00 pm but my employer is relatively relaxed about my hours. For example, if I need to leave early for a doctor's appointment then it's fine so long as I make the hours up. I imagine that there is less flexibility in operations as they work in a time-critical environment."

"There is a culture of give and take in my office. They have been excellent about letting me go for DHL interviews and grad scheme related events. Some days I have been allowed to work from home if I have a domestic commitment I cannot get out of. On the other hand, I do give back. I will sometimes work an extra four or five hours a day and work weekends too if that is what the business needs. We work in logistics so it's a 24/7 industry and you are expected to work with this. If you want a five-day week working 9.00 am to 5.00 pm then this is not the company for you."

"DHL is extremely flexible with regards to hours but I feel this is down to my specific manager. There have been periods of time I have worked 12hr shifts, worked different shift patterns and had no weekends off, but these are one-off periods and you are given back any time you worked extra hours. That said, Christmas periods are very tough and you will spend a lot of hours working."

"I am contracted to work 40 hours per week but nobody is keeping count - I'm not micromanaged and am trusted to do my work which is important. Some weeks I may work in the evenings or travel and put in extra hours, but equally there is no harm in leaving a bit early to make a social engagement. I work in functions, so graduates in an operational role are likely to find the hours less flexible as shifts must be covered to meet operational needs."

"There is a level of give and take. I will be the first to stay late to finish a job that needs doing and will leave the house at 6:00am to get to a 9:00am meeting in Sheffield on time - however I get the time back and if I finish my work an hour before my official working day is over, there is not an issue with me leaving early. The hours are flexible; I am meant to be 8:30am to 5:00pm but I prefer to be in and out early so arrive at 7:00am and leave around 4:00pm."
