How did you hear about G2V and why did you choose us?

I got the job through applying online. I interviewed over the phone on the Monday and had a face to face interview by the Tuesday. I then accepted the job on the Wednesday and started before I had graduated University.

I chose G2V over all the other recruitment firms because I liked the interview process and the ‘feel’ I got from all the managers I spoke to. The interviews were very personable, relaxed and honest. I could already see myself working alongside the managers who interviewed me, Alex Lyon, James Willsher and Ryan Woods. The culture and the experience they gave of the job suited me perfectly.

What does your role involve and what are your main responsibilities?

My role involves 360 recruitment all day, every day. I develop relationships with both clients and candidates. I work in a candidate short market, so more often than not I am developing relationships with these individuals because they’re what make me money. Day to day I have a specific process that I have created to suit myself personally and with the help of management and other consultants it has seen me do well in a reasonably short amount of time.

Key responsibilities;

  • Calling clients and candidates
  • Selling candidates to clients and the company's services
  • Negotiating contracts and terms of placements
  • Seeking business through various forms of business development
  • Developing relationships

What training have you received?

Since being with G2V Group, I have received mountains of training with both my managers and our specialist in house learning and development team. The first two weeks of the job are continuous training and the first 12 months are certainly heavy with training to develop you into a competent consultant. Now, training is always on offer whenever I need it, as are a lot of other support networks. I am now encouraged to run my own training sessions now, and will continue to do so as I am able to manage in the next 12 months or so.

What are the highlights of your work so far?

Hit 10 contractors out in 6 months of work. I have been on Four Michelin star company Lunch Clubs and recently hit my Winter holiday target which means I'll be going on a 5*holiday to Prague in February!

What do you enjoy about the job?

The part of the job I enjoy the most is the sales aspect in all honesty. Second to that, I love developing relationships with people and providing a good service. Sales can be easy when the service you offer is good. The culture here is second to none. The consultants I work with here are just as much my friends as colleagues which is hard to find in other businesses. This job demands hard working but at the same time the it's good fun with my colleagues around me.

What challenges the graduate has faced? and what support has been provided?

For the first 6 months I had little success despite all of the starting graduates I started with getting off to a good start... I had to persevere and change market. This ultimately saw me consistently do placements every month between 1-5 per month up until present day!
With the support of my managers, L&D and other colleagues with a growth mind-set you can get past pretty much any challenges posed against you in recruitment.
 

Why do you like working for G2V Group?

I like working for G2V Group because I’ve really become bought into the culture of the business. I support its values, processes and ways of doing things. Working here has allowed me to learn a lot about myself personally and develop a lot of key skills that you can take out into the business world.
