After studying for a BTEC and then an extended BTEC Diploma, Rhys studied Project Management for Construction at the University of Brighton. His degree involved a placement year which he spent working as an Assistant Project Manager at our Realys project management consultancy.
“This was a great opportunity for me as I was introduced to divisions right across the ISG business and to industry-leading, global projects.
One of the reasons why I re-joined ISG as a graduate was the structured professional development programme, particularly the quality of training on offer to graduates. Each rotation is helping me to become a more rounded professional, forming a strong foundation for my future career.
Fresh, innovative ideas are always welcomed here – we’re encouraged to challenge the norm and take the initiative.
You’re given plenty of responsibility too. During my pre-construction rotation, I worked with various Project Leads on tenders valued between £15million to £60million. This was both challenging and exciting because of the range of tasks I was responsible for.
There’s plenty of scope to follow your interests here as well. After I mentioned that I’d like to work in Europe because of my interest in the data centre industry, I was given the opportunity to work abroad which was a brilliant experience.
The ISG graduate programme has enabled me to work on fascinating projects, but perhaps the most special thing I’ve built is relationships and connections with the most important part of a project – people. People here are supportive, motivational, driven and collaborative.”
