Diversity

(based on 12 ratings in 2019)

2019

"The firm has improved in this area drastically. The firm is now much more willing to promote various initiatives, both in and out of the firm, and there is a clear message from firm leadership that diversity and inclusion is important. There is always more that can be done as the firm doesn't yet have an adequate balance of male vs female partners or BAME vs white lawyers. However, this seems to be something that is evolving forward and it is comforting to see that it is a top priority across the firm."

"There are a number of groups including the Women's Group, LGBTQ+ group and BAME group etc."

"The firm has incredible social mobility programmes and is really committed to it."
First year trainee, London
"There are action groups for women, ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+. The firm is involved in several social mobility programmes and commits significant resources to these efforts."
Second year trainee, London
"There is some way to go here but efforts are clearly being made at a recruitment level to try and improve this."
Second year trainee, London
"The firm does a lot in terms of social mobility and diversity initiatives, though it'll still take a while for it to filter into the more senior positions in the firm."
First year trainee, London
"I think that the initiatives are certainly there (groups, sessions and activities etc) but, in reality, ethnic minority lawyers are extremely low in number. Females in leadership positions are also low."

"The firm hosts events focused on diversity and equality. As a trainee, I have also been involved in social outreach programmes."
Second year trainee, London
"The firm has a strong record of achievement on diversity at more junior levels, women make up over half of associate and trainee numbers for example. The firm seems to take diversity seriously but, importantly, retains a commitment to hiring on merit rather than purely a candidate's diversity."
First year trainee, London
"The firm has many diversity and social mobility initiatives. There is a fantastic women's group with regular meetings to discuss important issues."
First year trainee, London
"We have a women's group, an LGBTQ+ group and a BAME group. We also hosted a diversity conference last month but could do more to promote these things. The firm's fantastic when it comes to advancement and social inclusion however."
First year trainee, London
"This does seem to be a priority for the firm, although I think more could be done about ensuring that those from poorer socio-economic backgrounds are considered. This should also extend beyond London."
First year trainee, London
"The firm is making an effort with this stuff, particularly with regards to maternity leave and childcare."
London
"I think the make-up of the firm as a whole could certainly be more diverse but I've recently noticed a welcome push for more diversity on the vac schemes. There is an LGBTQ+ group, a BAME group and women's talks but I haven't had any involvement. The firm is also completely understanding of religious holiday commitments."
First year trainee, London
"There are often well attended diversity events at the firm and it's committed to social mobility initiatives. The firm runs an apprenticeship scheme as an alternative route to law and seriously considers diversity when recruiting."
