“I first joined LSEG as an intern in FTSE Russell’s DevOps team. The team was very small at the time, so I was able to get stuck in almost immediately – I was given a lot of responsibility and the chance to shape my own experience. It was a great opportunity to get a foot in the door for the Graduate Programme too.
My first rotation was in the same team as my internship, and this time round I was given even more autonomy. The team had already grown significantly, so it was really great to have been involved early on and to see how things had evolved.
My second rotation has allowed me to gain a different kind of experience, contributing to the development of an application used by LCH members to manage their margin requirements. It’s quite technical work, but I’ve been given the space to learn, which has really paid off.
Throughout my internship and my rotations I’ve received a lot of training. This has helped me learn about the financial markets, meet with different teams and gain exposure to business functions across the Group. I’ve also undergone specialised technical training, which has been invaluable in terms of gaining new skills.
During the pandemic the Early Careers Team have been incredibly supportive, providing us with equipment to work from home from the get-go. We’ve had regular training sessions and meetings to check in on how we’re doing, and there’s always been someone to turn to if we encounter any issues. It’s a really nurturing environment, in which everyone makes time for you, as well as giving you the license to develop professionally.”
