McDonald’s has operated in the UK since 1974 and the business is growing consistently with around 1,270 restaurants and over 120,000 employees. It is the biggest family restaurant business in the world, serving approximately 3.7 million customers a day in the UK alone.
Training and developing people has always been at the heart of the McDonald’s business and each year the company invests over £40 million in developing its people and providing opportunities for progression. Attracting, retaining and engaging the best people is key and prospective managers have the opportunity to create a long-term career with one of the worlds most recognised and successful brands.
A graduate job at McDonald’s is focused on restaurant management – it involves overseeing the performance and development of large teams and identifying ways in which to improve customer service, build sales and profitability. Following the training period, which can last up to six months, trainee managers are promoted to assistant manager and become part of the core restaurant management team. Successful trainee managers can, in future, progress to managing all aspects of a £multi million business – opportunities can then arise to progress to area management roles or secondments in support departments. Trainee managers need to be logical thinkers, have a great attitude and be committed to delivering a great customer experience.
