2019

"Project Sky and Project Sun are really impressive initiatives that promote gender and ethnic diversity. The firm has also published its ethnicity pay gap, which was a real statement of intent with respect to the firm's strategy. I am part of the female futures network."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"Diversity is definitely important to the firm. It has initiatives such as Project Sky (about getting more women into senior roles) and Project Sun (about improving ethnic and cultural diversity) to help improve diversity."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"Pinsent Masons is very highly regarded with regards to LGBT+ equality and there is a programme running at the moment looking at improving ethnic minority equality within the firm."
Second year trainee, Edinburgh
"This is probably the standout factor at Pinsent Masons. The firm is very much committed to equality and diversity and is constantly trying to work on improving its policies eg reducing the gender pay gap. There are countless initiatives going on and the general feeling is that people can feel entirely comfortable with who they are, which is essential to bringing out the best in people."
First year trainee, Manchester
"We're ahead of the curve on this. Seeing senior women working part time and in agile ways with family commitments being promoted to partner is excellent. There's still lots of work to be done but I feel we are really sincere about our commitment to diversity."
Second year trainee, Manchester
"We have a range of diversity networks including LGBT, women, disability, religion and family. We also have mental health champions. All networks are very active and we often win awards for our commitment to diversity. We were the first law firm to top the Stonewall index."
Second year trainee, Belfast

2018

"There are high-profile projects that the firm invests time and energy in, such as Project Sky and Project Sun. The firm works with local schools to encourage people from non-traditional backgrounds to apply."
First year trainee, Manchester
"We're very committed and have been recognised for our commitment by the Stonewall Equality award and our new initiative Project Sun."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"We have a lot of projects and initiatives to promote equality and are heavily recognised for this. However, it's not something I have direct experience of."
Second year trainee, Edinburgh
"The firm regularly engages in initiatives and training surrounding diversity. It has a genuine commitment to these issues and recently placed second on the Stonewall Equality Index. The composition of the legal workforce could be more diverse but this reflects a sector-wide issue."
First year trainee, London
"There are vocal and active initiatives for equality and diversity for women, ethnic minorities and LGBT."
Second year trainee, Edinburgh
"The LGBT and Female Futures Networks are pretty good and host a lot of events during the year, but the firm could do more in respect of ethnic minorities."
Second year trainee, Leeds
"There are multiple groups highlighting these issues as well as opportunities to get involved."
First year trainee, London

2017

"I feel that the firm is very committed to diversity and equality. There are a number of networks that represent the interests of traditionally 'minority' groups and, even in the short time that I have been at the firm, I have seen these groups make genuine progress with regard to policies etc. There are regular seminars and sessions aimed at raising awareness of minority issues and I consider this to be a positive factor for an employer. The firm has a very positive attitude to flexible working and seems to genuinely listen to the concerns of the workforce in relation to diversity policies etc."
First year trainee, Edinburgh
"The firm has diversity groups for minorities and works hard to improve firm policies in relation to minority groups. It has a good female partner ratio and the recruitment policy is designed to be neutral and objective so interviewer's biases cannot affect the outcome (in theory)."
First year trainee, Edinburgh
"There is a huge commitment to equality and diversity at the firm. There are a lot of initiatives open to all staff members and these are well advertised within the firm. The culture is very inclusive here."
First year trainee, Leeds
"The firm puts diversity at the top of its agenda and is always looking for ways to improve. I was involved in a discussion about aligning our (excellent) UK maternity policy across the globe and two working mothers from the same team (who have one non-working day per week and one working-from-home day per week) were recently promoted to partner. For me, this is indicative of a firm that truly values that each person has to live and work differently. We also put a lot of work into our LGBT agenda, which is why we are often the top-rated law firm in The Stonewall Top 100 Employers list."
Second year trainee, London
"Pinsent Masons is the highest ranking law firm on The Stonewall Top 100 Employers list. The firm places a huge emphasis on diversity and equality."
First year trainee, Leeds
"The firm is very committed to diversity and I have seen this in the flexible working arrangements of the people around me. A lot of people work different hours or work from home etc. There is an expectation to get the job done but who you are or how you do the job doesn't matter."
First year trainee, Glasgow
"The firm is very good in terms of female partners and LGBT diversity."
First year trainee, Leeds
"There are a lot of networks throughout the firm that promote LGBT, female equality and flexible working. I feel like we have a good understanding of diversity and inclusion as well as an appreciation for the fact that we still have work to do in terms of hiring practices."
First year trainee, Leeds
