"I have never sensed any discrimination in the firm. Longer maternity and paternity leave would be useful though."
"The firm, despite having a traditional culture, is very relaxed about LGBT issues. Similarly to elsewhere, the number of women in the partnership is low relative to the number of female associates."

"The balance of races, sexualities and genders among people at the firm seems to be quite good despite there being no obviously targeted programmes in terms of diversity. I have never heard about anyone feeling discriminated against within the firm. If I could pinpoint one area of improvement, I would suggest that the firm give more paternity leave so that fathers can take up some of the heavy lifting that new mothers typically have to do (though they do give the industry standard amount)."

"The firm regularly attends diversity events in London and we have occasional awareness sessions targeted at the female workforce in the office."

"I have found S&C to be a very diverse place to work with a diversity committee that works alongside committee members from other offices."
Second year trainee, London
"I believe that the firm exceeds most diversity targets."

"There are a few female associates, though most who go on maternity leave do not return after. The female population is quite high though, between support staff and trainees (most of whom are female). There is also a mix of ethnicities, although this could be improved upon."
First year trainee, London
"The firm is conscious of the diversity of its workforce and supportive of everyone whatever their background and interests."
First year trainee, London
"The firm seems very committed to diversity with a strong female, ethnic minority and LGBT contingent among the trainees and throughout the firm."
Second year trainee, Melbourne

"The firm has a very active and representative diversity committee which works hard to make everyone feel included."
Second year trainee,
"The firm is very meritocratic, with minorities represented at every level of the firm. I belong to a couple of minority groups and have felt very supported and included."
Second year trainee,
"We have several diversity committees, and a commitment to ensuring that all are welcome."
First year trainee,
"I have found S&C to be a very diverse place to work. We face the same challenges as all other firms regarding female retention following five+ years PQE. There is a generous maternity policy and the firm is very family-oriented."
First year trainee,

"Slightly under average in terms of female representation."
First year trainee, London
"In my short time with the firm, I have seen their dedication to diversity and inclusiveness in the many events we attend and the organisations we support."
