I was very keen to apply to the graduate scheme as it was clear that Thales is a company that provides employees with opportunities for internal and international mobility. The Sales and Business Development Graduate Scheme allows graduates to complete two placements across different business units, and this ability to rotate around the business was a key motivator for me to apply to Thales.
For my first year on the scheme, I have been based in Thales’ Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) department in London. I have been involved in major customer opportunities for GTS and have developed my skills and understanding of the capture and bid management process which has involved organising and attending customer meetings and customer events. Additionally, I have been working closely with our bid team and have been helping put together bid proposals and responses to the customer.
I am about to start my second placement in Crawley, where I will be working in both the Land and Air Systems and Avionics business units. I am very excited to gain more experience and expand my knowledge of the Thales portfolio.
I have really enjoyed attending events and engaging with customers as it has helped me to understand our customer needs and expectations, and also hear about real life use cases for our products. I also enjoy travelling to different Thales offices across the country and working closely with the executive team who are always happy to offer advice and share their own experiences with me.
Working in Thales has really helped with my personal and professional development; the continuous support from my manager and team has encouraged me to go the extra mile and given me the confidence to get involved in projects that I never thought I could do. Recently, I took part in the Association of Project Management challenge with five other graduates. We made it to the finals night where we presented our project to the judges and were ultimately awarded the prize for best presentation!
