About ThoughtWorks

Founded over 25 years ago, we’ve grown from a small team in Chicago to a leading global software consultancy of more than 6000 employees.

With our roots in custom systems and agile software delivery, we’re at the forefront of defining the tech principles used by some of the world’s most successful organizations.

We have invested in organic growth, building on the strategy, design, data and engineering capabilities required to bring a truly integrated approach to solving our client's toughest challenges. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams deliver real results, fast.

We come to work as ourselves. We encourage and support each other. We value honesty and transparency. Ideas and doing the right thing are more important than appearances and backgrounds. We abhor and reject discrimination and inequality and promote diversity in all its forms. We proudly, passionately and actively strive to make both ThoughtWorks and our industry more reflective and inclusive of the society that we serve.

As technologists, we understand that our impact on society is ever-growing. Our mission is to better humanity through software and help build a more socially and economically just world. We are committed to building excellent software that helps shape this future. But tech excellence goes beyond writing great code or building effective architecture - it means deeply embodying the values of privacy, empathy, equity, and inclusion in the technology we create. Learn more about our commitment to social justice and how it’s embedded in our culture, the work we do and the changes we are advocating for.

All of our graduates join an intensive 12-month graduate programme, which includes five weeks at ThoughtWorks University in India or China. You will work (and play!) with other graduates from all over the world, learning about software development and project delivery to help prepare you for your first ThoughtWorks project. And guess what? It’s on us!

About You

You have a real passion for learning. You're curious and often challenge and ask "why?". It's not unusual for you to have had 5 new and brilliant ideas before breakfast. You're a techie at heart and love to play around with the latest cool technologies and aren't afraid to admit it. You've always been great at solving problems. You believe that the world can be a better place through the use of technology and want to help make that happen.

Have we got it right - does this sound like you?!

If yes, we'd love to chat with you about a career as a Graduate Software Developer with ThoughtWorks!

To apply for the role, you'll need some programming experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, JavaScript, C# or Python. We don't expect you to be an expert, but we will put your programming skills to the test in our interview process, so be prepared for that. You should be flexible and have a high willingness to travel within the UK and abroad.

Our entry-level program gets you ready for life as a ThoughtWorks consultant: we love students of all disciplines or people switching into tech careers — all you need is love for technology and a passion for learning. We’ll take care of the rest.

As a Graduate Software Developer with ThoughtWorks, here's what you can do:

  • Learn something new every day
  • Share your ideas
  • Work with the latest technologies
  • Deliver agile software solutions using best practices such as TDD and pair programming
  • Think through hard problems, finding solutions and working with a team to make them a reality
  • Spend your first few weeks training in our offices in India or China with other graduates from all around the world at ThoughtWorks University (TWU), where you will learn all about how we build awesome software and interact with our clients

If ThoughtWorks sounds like the right environment for you to learn, grow and thrive, then we are looking forward to getting to know you!

Great! How do I apply?

To apply, please submit your CV and a short covering letter. We would love to learn a bit more about you and understand why you can't wait to be a ThoughtWorker.

Successful applicants will have a first-round telephone interview with the recruitment team and complete a technical coding exercise. If everything stacks up there, you'll be invited to an interview day at our office.
