I studied Biology at the University of York and spent a few years working abroad after graduation. On returning to the UK I wanted to do something interesting that would give me the opportunity to continue learning. Working at TPP has definitely lived up to my expectations.
As a Commercial Manager, my job is incredibly varied – one day I could be negotiating a national contract with senior representatives of the NHS, while the next I could be liaising with our international partners to ensure TPP’s corporate structures abroad are compliant with local regulations. Every day is different and I love the challenge of applying the skills I’ve learned to a wide range of projects.
A big part of my team’s job is translating the company’s vision for a project into a contract. We work with all the different teams across the company to really get to the heart of what we’re trying to achieve. We then combine that with our commercial knowledge to make sure that the contract reflects reality. I like knowing that what we do helps projects progress smoothly and I enjoy having an oversight of all the interesting things TPP are working on.
I have a great team. I really enjoy coming to work with people who genuinely care about what they do. The job also comes with some amazing perks – I never thought that ‘learning new skills’ would include getting to skipper a boat around the Caribbean, but that’s an added bonus!
Leeds is a great place to live because there is something for everyone, whether you’re into city life or prefer getting outdoors. The work/life balance at TPP means you get plenty of time to enjoy life outside of the office, whether that’s trying out one of the new restaurants in the city, going cycling in the Dales or climbing at the Chevin.
