Future Female Engineers

Meet some of the brightest engineers and find out how you can follow in their footsteps

Morgan Havard

I attended the virtual Future Female Engineers event in November 2020. The main attraction for me was the opportunity to connect with a range of female engineering graduates and employees from impressive engineering firms, such as Siemens, Arup and MBDA.

Initially I had a phone call with a member of TARGETjobs when they asked about my interests with my degree and my motivations and presented me with an opportunity to find out more about the event.
The day consisted of a variety of events including an empowering talk by Kate Taylor, a group activity and panel talks. Each activity was exceptionally informative including tips on how to succeed and key qualities that companies look for in applicants. I found this contributed to my confidence when applying for placements. Towards the end of the event, there was the opportunity to connect with panel members, whether that be to find out what their working day entailed or their personal experiences with applications. I found this extremely insightful and it motivated me to apply and complete a placement year.

After the event, I applied to most of the companies that attended and was successful in obtaining an engineering placement with Siemens Energy. Before and after the event TARGETjobs were fantastic with their support and communication and were more than happy to answer any questions I had about my applications.

This event is a great opportunity to connect with companies you’re interested in working for, while being a unique experience to talk about in interviews. Good luck to all the aspiring future female engineers!
