2022 Intern Programme - Legal and Compliance Department
Mizuho International plc (MHI) is the London based securities and investment banking arm of the Mizuho Financial Group, Inc., and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. With a primary focus on client based activities, our wide range of services includes sales and trading in securities and derivatives, structured finance, corporate finance and M&A advisory services.
Within the Legal and Compliance Department, our Legal team provides legal, reputational and commercial advice and transactional expertise to all business areas of MHI and its subsidiaries. Its primary objective is to minimise legal risk to protect the firm and ensure high-quality, value-added execution of transactions.
Our Compliance team is an independent function that identifies, addresses, advises on and monitors compliance risk – i.e. the risk of regulatory sanctions as a result of failure to comply with applicable regulations. The team manages MHI’s relationship with the regulators and advises colleagues in all business and infrastructure areas, including the Markets and Investment Banking teams on regulatory requirements in the conduct of their work.
Many graduates and interns joining the Legal and Compliance Department have an academic background in Law or Finance and an interest in pursuing relevant professional qualifications. However, whatever your degree discipline, our intern training programme will ensure that you gain a thorough understanding of the Legal and Compliance landscape through a combination of department rotations and external training. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate our core values of winning spirit, inspiring trust and diversity of thought.
Our interns will gain experience across Legal and Compliance over a 10 week period with a view to being offered a position on the Mizuho 2023 Graduate Programme, commencing September 2023.
Applicants to the Mizuho 2022 Intern Programme will ideally be in their penultimate year of undergraduate study and be available for permanent employment from September 2023. (Please note we have now filled all places on our Mizuho 2022 Graduate programme).
