BlackRock’s purpose is to help more and more people experience financial well-being. As a global investment manager and a leading provider of financial technology, our clients—from grandparents, doctors, and teachers to large institutions—turn to us for the solutions they need when planning for their most important goals. We are building a culture of innovation, curiosity, and compassion, one that enables every employee to make an impact.
The Placement Program
Offered in our London and Edinburgh offices, the 6 and 12-month Placement Program provides the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be part of BlackRock. You’ll have real-world responsibility from day one and contribute to our success in helping to meet the evolving needs of our clients. You’ll gain and develop new skills as you build the foundation for a successful career whilst participating in professional development, networking and social events.
The Placement Program acts as a feeder to the Full-Time Analyst Program for the following year.
To succeed at BlackRock, you should be curious and motivated to solve some of the world’s most complex challenges. You should be willing to step outside your comfort zone, open to new ways of thinking and passionate about helping people from all walks of life build a better financial future.
Candidates must be graduating from an undergraduate or a master’s degree program in 2023 for a 6 month placement or 2024 for a 12 month placement; with less than 18 months of directly, relevant full-time work experience. We welcome applications from candidates studying any degree subject.

Our business areas
Build and support Aladdin, the technology platform that powers our firm and the investment industry as a whole. Utilize sophisticated technology to develop applications, deliver custom solutions and ensure a superior user experience.
As part of your application, you will be able to select up to two teams you would like to be considered for.
Once you’ve submitted your online application, you will be asked to complete a virtual cover letter. Think of this as an opportunity to give us your elevator pitch – it is not an interview but will be considered along with your resume. This must be completed within 72 hours of submitting the written part of your application and for each business area you apply for.
If you are interested in our software engineering opportunities, we’ll ask you to complete a coding challenge instead of a virtual cover letter. This must be completed within 96 hours of submitting the first part of your application.
