Software Development Engineer in GPU Operations.

We are looking for a developer to support web-based tools in the GPU Software Development team.

Are you interested in the workings of operational management plus keen and able to create web-based and command line applications to provide essential data analysis? Can you work with the team as well as working independently in a fast moving, high tech industry?

The ARM GPU Software team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join their Operations Team.  The team plans and manages the on-time and quality deliveries of the Mali GPU that form the heart of a huge number of electronics products around the world, including mobile phones, PCs, gaming consoles and TVs.

Job Purpose

The role of the Software Development Engineer is to support the GPU Software Project Management team in creating and improving tools to assist with the delivery of the Mali GPU Driver.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, test and deploy with Agile/Scrum environment. 
  • Create Django based applications to assist with Planning etc.
  • Modify and improve JIRA using Script Runner to assist the workflow of GPU Engineers
  • Create APIs and tools to interface with the Arm Project Management Office and IT department.
  • Assistance in large JIRA dataset migrations though the use of scripting.
  • Create charting and reporting tools to assist with data analysis

Essential skills & experience

  • A university degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering or Computer Science background, although other degrees would be considered if there is relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in object-oriented software development with language such as Python and Java.
  • Good Knowledge of Web based development with JavaScript and HTML/CSS
  • Passion to learn, and improve SDLC processes and tools
  • Experience with working with APIs.
  • Knowledge of the complete software development cycle (SCM, Inline documentation, Testing, CI/CD.)
  • Good experience with Linux/Unix working environment (shell) and distributions (RedHat/CentOS, Debian.)
  • Good shell scripting skills (Bash, Tcsh.)

Desirable (but not essential) skills & experience

  • Solid understanding of data science tools like pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib.
  • Experience with Gerrit, Jenkins and JIRA.
  • Experience with the configuration of Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Knowledge of Django and experience with Docker and releasing tools on a regular cadence.
