Type of opportunity:
Over the course of two to four years, you’ll learn that civil and structural engineering is all about people. It’s about making public services and facilities better and everyone’s everyday life easier. From building the next generation of nuclear power stations to supporting the Royal Navy, your work here will have a real impact on making our world safer, simpler and better connected.
Places on our Civil and Structural Engineering programme for Autumn 2020 are available in our Cavendish Nuclear and Marine sectors. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.
The possibilities are many and varied. You might be helping to modernise facilities and infrastructure, or designing cutting-edge structures for the nuclear industry. We do a lot of work for the MOD, which alone offers a whole world of varied opportunities. You might even work with the Royal Navy to adapt the UK’s dockyard services to meet the demands of a modern naval fleet. Whatever you work on, you can be sure you’ll be making a real difference to everyday life in the UK.
We’re passionate about learning. And we encourage our people to pursue accreditation with professional bodies – especially our engineers. We’ll support you on the road to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status – and give you a competitive starting salary of £28k - £30k. So after the programme you’ll be ready to take on your first permanent role as an engineer.
A 2:2 BEng (Hons) degree is vital. And because the programme is accredited by the IMechE, IET, RINA, ICE, and IOP, our preference is that your degree is also accredited by the relevant institution too. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).
Competitive starting salary £29k - £31k
