We’re advancing the future of energy.
Where could it take you?
Today’s growing world demands more energy – but in new ways with fewer emissions. To meet this challenge, we’re evolving every part of our operations, all while welcoming new, diverse talent to keep pushing our ideas forward. It’s only by bringing together the brightest people in one, world-class team, that we’ll succeed. And when joining one of our business graduate programmes, you’ll have a part to play too.
Business graduate programmes at BP
Our scientists and engineers do an amazing job of sourcing, extracting, moving and refining gas and oil across the world, but this is just the start of the product journey at BP. There are contracts that need to be negotiated, regulatory compliance that needs to be met and sound investments that need to be made. We need to analyse, interpret and act upon financial data and, of course, we need to market and sell our product – and we’re always looking for exceptional graduates to help us.
We offer opportunities in many teams including Technology, Commercial Downstream, Communications and External Affairs, and HR. You could manage $1bn of BP’s cash, recruit and develop top talent to drive the company forward or manage a global portfolio of customers, consumers and partners. Whatever programme you join, you’ll develop through our comprehensive training, work with sharp commercial minds and make a real impact on our business by guiding our strategic planning. By the end of your programme, you’ll be amazed by how far you’ve come. And as exhilarating as all this may seem, it will just be the start of your BP experience.
Join us to keep advancing
Our diverse and inclusive environment focuses on teamwork, respect and ambition, as much as on personal achievements. From day one, you’ll be offered a real chance to build a challenging, varied career and to contribute at any stage of the energy life cycle.
Because we offer such a breadth of opportunity, you could come to us with a good degree in a range of subjects. Wherever your talents and aspirations lie, we expect a high level of academic achievement (at least a 2:1). But every bit as important will be the individual attributes and personal qualities you bring to our team. Our whole approach is built on working together, being consistent and having the courage to do the right thing. All of which is underpinned by a commitment to safety and excellence in what we do. It’s essential that you share those values.
As with many graduate employers, we have a rigorous assessment process in place. This will include various online tests plus a scenario based interview and assessment centre and you will need to be successful at every stage for your application to progress.
Duties and responsibilities
The precise nature of your role will be determined by the programme you join, your skills as well as the needs of the business, but your duties and responsibilities could include:
- Preparing business cases for improved supply contracts or evaluating strategic improvements to meet our customers’ needs better.
- Digging into data sets and using tools and techniques to cleanse, rationalize and infer meaning out of data. Using that data you will craft views that help decision makers use data in an intuitive and consumable way.
- At-scale enterprise software development products, including those focused on trading applications, primarily using Java J2EE / C#.Net or other high level languages.
- Engineering and automating robust, secure and scalable cloud architectures using Azure Resource Manager, Cloudformation templates and Chef.
- Working within HR to develop top talent to drive the company forward.
There’s more to our work and a career with BP than you could possibly imagine. So, the next thing to do is to get online and experience it for yourself. Closing date 31st December 2019.
Please note that vacancies will be filled on an on-going basis after opening and we may close applications before the stated deadline. So, we highly recommend you submit your application as early as possible to be considered for the opportunity of your choice.
