We’re advancing the future of energy.
Where could it take you?
Today’s growing world demands more energy – but in new ways with fewer emissions. To meet this challenge, we’re evolving every part of our operations, all while welcoming new, diverse talent to keep pushing our ideas forward. It’s only by bringing together the brightest people in one, world-class team, that we’ll succeed. And when joining one of our engineering graduate programmes, you’ll have a part to play too.
Engineering graduate programmes at BP
Our BP engineers are at the forefront of developing the latest technologies on some of the largest, most complex projects in the world – while always ensuring safety, efficiency and responsible behaviour are our number one priority. We need talented engineers to help us continue to drive our business forward. If you want to grow as an engineer and build a rewarding career in oil and gas, our BP graduate programme will give you the responsibility, training and support that you need to take your engineering career to the next step.
We have opportunities in many teams including Civil, Automotive, Petroleum & Reservoir and Project Services. You could be doing anything from finding oil reserves hidden miles below ground, creating complex construction plans for new sites or designing vital pipelines for safe oil transportation. Whichever area you join, you’ll be able to get involved with an interesting variety of projects using cutting-edge innovations and technologies from day one. At BP, you’ll be part of a team whose skills underpin everything we do.
Join us to keep advancing
Our diverse and inclusive environment focuses on teamwork, respect and ambition, as much as on personal achievements. From day one, you’ll be offered a real chance to build a challenging, varied career and to contribute at any stage of the energy life cycle.
Because we offer such a breadth of opportunity, you could come to us with a good degree in anything from mechanical and integrity instrument, to chemical, process or any energy-related engineering field. Wherever your talents and aspirations lie, your academic achievements (at least a 2:1) are every bit as important as the individual attributes and personal qualities you bring to our team. Our whole approach is built on working together, being consistent and having the courage to do the right thing. All of which is underpinned by a commitment to safety and excellence in what we do. It’s essential that you share those values.
As with many graduate employers, we have a rigorous assessment process in place. This will include various online tests plus a scenario based interview and assessment centre and you will need to be successful at every stage for your application to progress.
Duties and responsibilities
The precise nature of your role will be determined by your skills as well as the needs of the business, but your duties and responsibilities could include:
- Applying the tools, techniques, benchmarks and measurements used to plan and lead major engineering projects.
- Integrating geoscience, facilities and well engineering data to understand hydrocarbon reservoir performance, plan field developments and optimize the economic recovery of hydrocarbons.
- Working as a technical specialist advising operations and projects on particular aspects of mechanical engineering.
- Developing future fuels and lubricants for cars, motorcycles, trucks and even marine and industrial applications.
- Modelling, analysis, simulation and CAD to help improve the way we test our products and interpret the results.
There’s more to our work and a career with BP than you could possibly imagine. So, the next thing to do is get online and experience it for yourself. Closing date 31st December 2019.
Please note that vacancies will be filled on an on-going basis after opening and we may close applications before the stated deadline. So, we highly recommend you submit your application as early as possible to be considered for the opportunity of your choice.
