We’re advancing the future of energy.
Where could it take you?
Today’s growing world demands more energy – but in new ways with fewer emissions. To meet this challenge, we’re evolving every part of our operations, all while welcoming new, diverse talent to keep pushing our ideas forward. It’s only by bringing together the brightest people in one, world-class team, that we’ll succeed. And when joining one of our science graduate programmes, you’ll have a part to play too.
Science graduate programmes at BP
Our science teams have helped us make oil and gas more efficient, more sustainable and more secure. From finding innovative new hydrocarbon resources, to turning raw products into advanced materials, they are brilliant at what they do. If you’re interested in working alongside the industry-leading experts on the most advanced projects in oil and gas, then joining our science graduate programme could be the perfect introduction to the industry for you.
We offer graduates the opportunity to join many teams including Chemistry, Safety, Geology, Geophysics and Upstream Digital (Data Management & Science). Joining us as a scientist at BP, you’ll develop new ways to stimulate innovation and growth throughout the business as well as help secure a better future for all. Whichever programme you choose to do, you’ll broaden your horizons and expand your knowledge on a journey that will see you work with inspirational people and develop with comprehensive training.
Join us to keep advancing
Our diverse and inclusive environment focuses on teamwork, respect and ambition, as much as on personal achievements. From day one, you’ll be offered a real chance to build a challenging, varied career and to contribute at any stage of the energy life cycle.
Because we offer such a breadth of opportunity, you could come to us with a good degree in subjects as varied as environmental science and petrophysics. Wherever your talents and aspirations lie, we expect a high level of academic achievement (at least a 2:1). But every bit as important will be the individual attributes and personal qualities you bring to our team. Our whole approach is built on working together, being consistent and having the courage to do the right thing. All of which is underpinned by a commitment to safety and excellence in what we do. It’s essential that you share those values.
As with many graduate employers, we have a rigorous assessment process in place. This will include various online tests plus a scenario based interview and assessment centre and you will need to be successful at every stage for your application to progress.
Duties and responsibilities
The precise nature of your role will be determined by your skills as well as the needs of the business, but your duties and responsibilities could include:
- Supporting activities such as seismic exploration, drilling, development projects and production operations, in a variety of environments, from deepwater oceans to tropical forest, and from tundra to desert.
- Applying your knowledge of Safety Management Systems to continuously improve Health and Safety performance on our sites.
- Analysing, modelling or mapping subsurface or upstream data using technical applications, analytical tools and technologies.
- Working as a Chemist in our product development teams where you will concentrate on improving fuel and lubricant performance for all kinds of engines. We will be looking for your input as to how our products can be upgraded to enable lower emissions and energy efficiency improvements.
There’s more to our work and a career with BP than you could possibly imagine. So, the next thing to do is get online and experience it for yourself. Closing date 31st December 2019
