“CRCC brings people from all over the world so not only do you get insight into Chinese culture and language but you also learn many things from the people you are with and anyone you may meet.”
Sarah Wilson Knight - NGOs & Charities Internship (Oct 2014)
“Looking back on my time as an intern through CRCC Asia, I realize the value of the international work experience that I have gained. I was blessed to avoid the stereotypical experience of the “coffee and copies” intern, and was instead able to step outside of my comfort zone on the complete opposite side of the world to contribute to a company’s future. I will always remember and appreciate my time interning in China”
Andrew Waters – Tourism & Travel Internship (July 2014)
“From the beginning of the internship I felt like I was given a huge amount of responsibility. My supervisor assigned me to important group projects. She taught me how to tailor each research task and presentation to meet the clients’ needs. Eventually, my colleagues’ work was presented, together with my own research, to the clients themselves. In the end, it always felt great knowing that your work actually mattered.”
Daniela Palermo - Marketing, PR & Advertising Internship (May 2014)
“Dynamic, eye-opening, challenging, energising, and confidence-building are just some of the words I would use to describe my summer internship and overall experience in China. Not only did I gain valuable and practical skills from my internship, I also made some fantastic friends during the program. I was surrounded by students from all over the world in a beautiful city that welcomes visitors! It has been a meaningful experience, I would certainly recommend China as a great place to gain work experience or undertake an international internship!”
Monica Oluwole - University of Law (2019)
If I could encourage only one of you to pursue this opportunity, I’d be happy. The internship placement programme in Beijing with CRCC Asia was an excellent stepping stone for me in realising the benefit of international internships.
I worked in a law firm by day, and at night I learnt Mandarin, tried new foods and saw more of the beautiful city of Beijing. I had never thought of China in my future career but having been there for a number of weeks, I could already foresee my return. Yes, it is different there and yes you may feel different to those around you, but one thing is for sure, the on the ground CRCC Asia team are incredible. I quickly felt comfortable with the other interns, where I lived and I looked forward to dinners and the weekend.
My favourite memories included visiting the Great Wall of China, Temple of Heaven Park (my favourite afternoon) and roaming the hutongs and 798 Art Zone. To those who will soon embark on this experience, carpe every diem and don’t be afraid to try something new.
Keval Patel - Imperial College London (2019)
I interned in Beijing with a petrochemical consultancy company. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about my sector will gaining invaluable work experience abroad, which looks fantastic on CVs. The workload was fair and I learnt a lot about a few specific topics through conducting patent research for the company, ending in a report and presentation to colleagues. The social side of the internship was incredible and probably the best experience of my life! I can honestly say I have friends for life and have developed an extensive network whilst interning in China which could be very useful for the future. I would highly recommend this programme, it really is the opportunity of a lifetime and you will meet so many people and do so many amazing things and that alone makes it worth it.
