Design – Studio Modelling

Studio Modelling sits under the Creative Design Pillar and consists of 2 main disciplines. Clay Modelling (physical) and Computer Aided Styling (CAS -Digital). Both work in harmony to deliver feasible model representation of the initial 2D Design vision. Both disciplines work closely with the creative designers to create physical scale and full-size models accompanied by a digital twin. Supporting the design process through to aesthetic confirmation gateway. For undergraduates in 2022 we have opportunities in our CAS team.

The Team

The Computer Aided Styling (CAS) team is an integral part of the design process. Creating high level detailed 3D digital datasets from 2D assets and engineering data which enables the design process to visualise future concepts and products. The digital data produced is used for high level reviews, engineering analysis, manufacture of physical assets and the basis for animations and high-end visuals. As we move into an increasingly more digital lead future and develop the design process, the CAS team will become even more critical and pivotal in the successful delivery of world class products.

This pathway within the CAS team will be centred around realising a unique design brief. It is designed to allow you to experience an automotive design programme and all of the aspects and disciplines needed to deliver a successful design conclusion. You will be encouraged to interact with many different disciplines throughout the process. You will be involved at every stage of the process. From creating the initial sketch work, mood boards and research into the brief. Creating refined 3D digital models. Applying model build techniques to your designs. Producing scale models and finishing to a high standard and presenting to the design seniors. This pathway has been designed to enable you to showcase your creative talents and design solutions and will help to excite and inspire the wider design team.

This is an outstanding opportunity to realise your potential within a prestigious automotive company. Where you will be at the forefront of the companies exciting and innovative future. Working within a highly creative and diverse team who all share your passion and will help guide and train you to be the best you can be.
