Propose a better world. Reimagine client needs. Bring us into tomorrow.

Put your great personal skills and analytical problem-solving abilities to good use and help our UK and Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) clients meet their business goals. As well as building your own hands-on experience helping businesses manage their insurance or pension account risks, you’ll get the best support in the business – helping you in becoming a certified actuary.

What is Actuarial at EY?

Our fast-changing world can create lots of opportunity for insurance businesses, but it also creates new risks. We help our clients identify these risks by carrying out complex calculations, asking the right questions, setting priorities and creating action plans for success.

What will you be doing?

Our teams in Actuarial work in Non-Life Insurance, Life Insurance and Pensions and Investments. Whichever area you join, you’ll be working on real client projects as soon as you’re ready to, completing tasks like:

Non-Life Insurance

  • Analysing data to identify trends and insights, communicating with clients, writing reports and presenting your work
  • Working with UK and global (re)insurance companies on reserve reviews, transactions, portfolio transfers, actuarial modelling and more
  • Using the latest technology, modelling and analysis to understand clients’ businesses
  • Building proposals for new business pitches

Life Insurance

  • Analysing data to identify trends and insights, communicating with clients, writing reports and presenting your work
  • Developing dashboards, producing visualisations and performing analytics to support client needs
  • Contributing to actuarial audits, mergers and acquisitions, actuarial modelling and more
  • Communicating with people in our UK offices and across EMEIA

Pensions and Investments

  • Identifying trends and insights, connecting with clients, writing reports and presenting work
  • Using actuarial concepts and modelling techniques
  • Building proposals for new business pitches
  • Completing actuarial audits of pension schemes
  • Performing analytics, analysing pension-related risks and producing visualisations
  • Carrying out due diligence on the pension aspects in a corporate transaction

You’ll have lots of support from colleagues and, as well as in-house training and development opportunities, you’ll study for professional qualifications with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. Before long, you’ll be coaching junior members in your team and be on your way to leading projects and people.

Do you have the problem-solving logic needed to work in actuarial? The confidence to ask better questions? The belief that we can build a better working world together? You have the opportunity to write your own story, to unfold your own experiences, to activate a purpose that could redefine working life as we know it.

Entry requirements

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need to be working towards an Honours degree in a numbers-based subject like Maths, Statistics, Actuarial, Science, Physics or Economics, have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and three A-levels, including A in Maths (or Scottish Higher equivalent), to be eligible to apply.

“Every day our team challenges and pushes us to be our best.” Hiren, Actuarial – Graduate programme
