Build your skills. Share your knowledge. Explore our ever-changing world.

Work on Project You.

At EY, we encourage you to bring your unique analytical mentality to our Assurance teams and drive real change. By having an impact on technology as well as the world of finance, you’ll gain the skills and qualifications to get your career off to a brilliant start and help businesses publish reliable financial accounts as you progress towards becoming a chartered accountant. The experience you gain from our Assurance Graduate Programme is completely yours to shape.

What is Assurance at EY?

The purpose of Assurance at EY is to inspire the confidence and trust that help enable a complex world to work. We help to support organisations in promoting investor confidence, managing regulatory responsibilities, and supporting long-term, sustainable economic growth. In doing so, we protect and serve the public interest and promote transparency.

We work to make sure that businesses are protected from risks that can affect their reputation and performance. As external auditors, we help companies and governments publish accurate financial accounts others can rely on – so we can build a better working world.

What will you be doing?

As an external auditor, you'll help companies publish accurate financial accounts others can rely on. This will include:

  • Getting to know our clients, their businesses and how they work
  • Testing checks and balances to ensure they work how they’re supposed to
  • Analysing the data that goes into a financial statement to make sure it is true and fair
  • Developing your data management, extraction, analysis and visualisation skills
  • Developing skills and ideas to lead teams and projects in the future
  • Working with cutting-edge technologies
  • Sharing analyses and solutions with clients

You’ll study and shadow senior colleagues, supported by your own personal counsellor who’ll help guide your growth. This kind of exposure to the finance industry, together with working towards your qualifications, will open up many more opportunities within EY and beyond.

Throughout the programme you’ll be part of the EY graduate community, and you’ll have a buddy to help guide you. They’ll be your first point of call for practical help and guidance. We also provide coaching, so you always have access to impartial advice, opportunities, and ongoing advice.

Starting out in assurance requires dedication, hard work and long hours, but the knowledge and experience you’ll gain will set you on a fulfilling career path.

Entry requirements

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any subject, have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

“I’m constantly learning, in an industry that is ever-changing.” Liz, Assurance graduate programme
