Graduate scheme

East Midlands

Finance isn’t a back office function at Toyota. You’ll soon discover that a key part of your role is to see things for yourself. You’ll spend time on the shop floor understanding how we work and learn how you can improve the way we manage costs to add real value to the business. Our Finance and Purchasing team spans cost management, general ledger, accounts payable and received, purchasing, investment and physical inventory. You will have responsibility in one or more of these areas as well as seeing how finance can make an impact across the company.

Your time here

You will be given real responsibilities right from day 1 and whatever you are working on, will stretch your problem solving skills and introduce you to people at all levels of management. Whether you are in cost management, general ledger, accounts payable and received, purchasing, or investment, you'll tackle real commercial projects and discover how finance can add real value to the production process. It will be a challenging scheme consistently testing your abilities and capabilities, but equally there is plenty of support from your mentor, section manager, and colleagues.

Over the two-year scheme there will be a variety of tasks and projects you could be involved with and manage. Graduates in the past have developed breakthrough initiatives to manage costs per vehicle by working closely with other departments and balanced environmental impacts with economic effectiveness.

All graduates will also take part in six weeks of line training. This will mean that for those six weeks you will work on an area where we build the cars down on the shop floor. Although tough, this experience is extremely rewarding and interesting and gives you a real hands-on insight into what Toyota Manufacturing is all about. We believe this experience is crucial for your personal development and rather unique to our company.

Development is everything at Toyota. At its heart is the Japanese concept of kaizen - a belief that no process can ever be declared perfect; that there's always a better way. We place great emphasis on learning by doing - usually through structured, on-the-job training.

What we look for

We're looking for individuals who will share our values and believe that there's always a better way. So, if you thrive on analysing problems from different angles to develop solutions and take a practical approach to your work, you could go a long way with us. You should also have a consistently strong academic record, with a minimum 2:1 predicted degree result.
