This opportunity is for a Controls Engineer to join Procter & Gamble as our Power Controls & Information Systems (PC&IS) Leader at our Reading Manufacturing Plant working on drives, controls, instrumentation, and networks.

In this role you will project manage, design, deliver and validate market leading equipment to produce and improve the production of our products.

You will be responsible for the design and specification of upgraded machine controls systems for our existing machines and specifying controls requirements for new vendor-built machines.

  • Development of controls design from concept to deployment, covering all aspects from Power Controls & Information Systems involvement including hardware and software design, machine commissioning and install.

  • Lead the continuous improvement of manufacturing Power Controls & Information Systems and online instrumentation by working within established product and equipment to build controls capability internally.

  • Manage the technical leadership of a project through during the complete design, manufacture, debug and implementation & commissioning phases both at vendors and receiving sites globally with potential extensive travel.

  • Effectively manage project plans including detailed milestone setting and timeline generation to ensure key milestones are met in line with overall program timings.

  • Provide ongoing daily support through capability building to our technical manufacturing resources.

  • Develop ongoing improvement strategy for our manufacturing controls networks.

  • Lead and manage the Power Controls & Information Systems team (currently three people)

Job Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Strong engineering aptitude/background. BSc or higher required in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or related field such as Mechatronics or Robotic Engineering.

  • Expertise in industrial imaging, instrumentation, electronics, controls, and communication networks

  • Ability to generate detailed functional specifications which includes technology search, decision matrix assessment and making recommendations on the best value option.

  • Able to program PLC, HMI, Motion, safety applications & vision systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate diverse, multifunctional teams to deliver desired business outcomes, leading and influencing your peers and others.

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems - clearly defining issues, communicating critical barriers/help needed, and developing and implementing creative solutions.

Advantageous: Specific experience with Cognex systems, Rockwell hardware/software, and industrial sensors; use of Autocad.
