United Utilities provides water and sewage services to around seven million people in the North West. Behind the scenes that means, operating enough miles of pipework and sewers to wrap three times round the planet, investing billions of pounds to improve water and the environment across the North West; while taking care of some of the most scenic and environmentally sensitive countryside in the region. In short, it is our job to bring three million households and 200,000 businesses, clean, clear water and to take their wastewater away so our customers can simply get on with their day.

You will be part of the Digital Services team and benefit from the shared knowledge and expertise of working with colleagues across all of the digital disciplines whilst also developing your own specialist skills.

Our Digital Services team are responsible for the development, maintenance and enhancement of all technology across United Utilities – from devices and mobile phones employees use every day, to complex systems that manage and automate treatment works across the North West's water ecosystem.

You'll be rewarded for your commitment with a starting salary of £28,500, a massive 26 days of annual leave every year, which will increase to a maximum of 30 days after four years' service, plus bank holidays. Job Accountabilities

Within your first two years, you will be expected to have gained an understanding of the wide range of technologies we use within digital services, specialising in those end-users interface with on a regular basis. Understanding and improving the end-user digital experience to be seamless, enjoyable and easy.

You will take part in three placements where you will develop and contribute to:

  1. Digital services strategy and planning team
  2. Digital operations team
  3. Data and analytics team

Knowledge and Skills

Our team has a strong reputation for excellence and our graduates are an important part of that success.

We require our digital user experience specialist graduates to have a minimum 2:2 accredited degree in either, IT, computer science, computing and engineering, user-experience designer, product design or equivalent.

You will need to be:

  • Strong at written and interpersonal skills
  • An excellent communicator at all levels
  • An excellent team player, possessing ambition and drive
  • User-focused and analytical
  • Able to work in a team environment in order to share information and collaborate on solutions
