Overview

We are looking for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Energy team in Newcastle as part of our 2026 Graduate Programme. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute within a transmission and distribution team that plays an important part in the UK energy transition. We support our clients in delivering electricity safely, reliably, and efficiently to communities across the UK, while driving towards a clean energy future.

Your Role

You will work as part of a multi-disciplined dedicated design group, supporting the electrical engineering elements of solutions and contributing to the production of associated outline and detailed designs for the successful delivery of projects. Typical projects include substation refurbishments and extensions, new-build substations, and other electrical infrastructure.

You will join a supportive and successful team with exciting career opportunities, gain great client exposure, and benefit from professional development in an innovative and collaborative environment.

About You

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. You will have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a keen interest in the Energy sector. In addition, you are:

  • An adapter: able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A perseverer: composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • A collaborator: effective working with different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A problem-solver: eager to share insights based on what you see, unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Work Arrangement

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week to ensure you receive sufficient time with your team and the appropriate level of support.

What We Can Offer You

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection, and life assurance
  • Permanent employment contract, demonstrating our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
  • Professional progression plan, supporting you to gain professional chartership
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment, Early Careers peer group, and a wider Employee Resource Group (ERG) network

Additional Information
