Graduate Management Development Programme

We are looking for innovative, driven, ambitious and above all, talented individuals who aspire to be our leaders of the future.

Salary: £26,466 - £30,072

Our Graduate Management Development Programme brings together business areas to deliver a management programme that sets you on the path of becoming a future leader. Six month rotational placements will give you the chance to solve problems, learn new techniques, use our technology, become familiar with our systems and develop, both professionally and personally.

No two days will be the same as you deliver projects for business areas that may include Water Services, Wastewater Services and Retail, and focus on delivering excellent customer service as you work towards our mission of “earning the trust of our customers every day.” Your programme will include training required for the project and management development training.

From day one you will be contributing to initiatives which will enhance your management capability. We will give you the opportunity to progress and succeed, and in return we want you to make the most of it. That means taking personal responsibility for making a real and visible contribution to the business as well as to your own career.

Soft skills training – you will take part in a number of soft skills workshops during your time on the programme. This includes the following workshops:

  • Presentation Skills
  • Effective Team Working
  • Resilience
  • Personal Branding
  • Time Management
  • Lean Yellow Belt
  • Problem Solving
  • Managing Difficult Conversations
  • Project Management

Managing Director Forums– you will be invited to take part in quarterly round table forums with our business area MDs. Here you will get the opportunity to discuss key business developments and strategies and will also get the opportunity to ask questions.

Teambuilding and fundraising opportunities - you will be given the opportunity to work on fundraising and event organisation projects with your fellow graduates. This will allow you to develop your interpersonal and leadership skills.

Structured projects – you will be given the opportunity to work on key business projects with specific deliverables. These projects will give you the opportunity to develop significant experience which will enhance your CV.

Household Customer Service Graduate Leadership Role

Have you ever considered a career in an industry which impacts on people’s lives every single day?

Why not join a team of truly exceptional people who look after Wales’ water, and make sure our customers receive the highest levels of service from us at all times - and Trust us to do just that.

We’re looking for the future leaders of our company. If you are people driven, practical, customer focused, nice to work with and not afraid of making your own way, we want to hear from you! We need leaders who want to have impact - and we’ll help you get there.

Our leadership graduate role will help you develop all the skills you need so you can lead our future teams and ensure Welsh Water is ready to serve our customers and communities long into the future.

What you’ll be responsible for

You will report directly to our Head of Customer Service in the Household Customer Services part of our business which is based in Cardiff, and will have endless opportunities to learn, develop and grow. You will focus on three key areas: leading people, service improvements, and how we can become more efficient at what we do.

This is a high impact role designed to kickstart your career and prepare you for a senior leadership position.

About you

You might not have thought about a career in an industry like ours, but please don’t be put off if you think you don’t have the knowledge or experience – as you may just be the kind of person we need.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, who can develop a pride and passion for our company and has a real can-do attitude. Someone who cares as much about the people they will be leading in the future just as much as they do about our customers. And, of course, a willingness to roll their sleeves up and get involved.

You will also need to be:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in any subject with a 2:1 or above
  • Entitled to drive in the UK with a full driving licence
  • Entitled to work in the UK on a full time, permanent basis
  • Ideally be able to start in this role no later than the end of September 2022, but if you’re not, then we would still like to hear from you.
